National Television Awards
Ant and Dec took centre stage at Wednesday night’s National Television Awards, flying in just in time to pick up 2 out of their 3 awards for the night. They may have not made it in time to pick up the award for Best Entertainment Show with I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here but they were there for the ones that really mattered. Not only did they win their 13th award, picking up Best Entertainment Presenters, but they went on to receive the Landmark award in an emotional end to the show.
There were tears from both of the Geordie pair as they watched the tribute video and went up to receive the award. They were even sent a tribute from Prince Charles, thanking their charitable work, saying “the nation has taken them to their hearts”.
Coronation Street also picked up two of the main awards, thanks to their recent storyline featuring Roy and Hayley Cropper, the latter (Julie Hesmondhalgh) picking up ‘Best Drama Performance’ before the entire cast were up on the stage celebrating a win over Eastenders in the ‘Serial Drama’ category.
Other notable wins from the night came from Strictly Come Dancing, who picked up the award for Best Talent Show for the second year running, and Khalil Best who received Best Newcomer for his role as Dexter in Eastenders.
