Football transfer window looms. What have we heard so far?
With the August 31st deadline approaching fast, it is important that we take a look at the transfers. Of course, the football transfer window always seems to go so fast that many of us find it hard to keep up with the deals. There has already been a whole host of rumours flying about, but what can you believe? Let’s have a quick look at some of the rumours and what we think of them. After all, it will soon be the start of the football season once again.
Rumoured transfers that have already happened
First, let’s talk about Arsenal. If they have any hopes of getting their hands on the FA Cup, they need some new players as soon as possible. As usual, Wenger has been tight when it comes to getting new players. He has already sold, released or loaned a whole load of his players. In fact, the likes of Carl Jenkinson, Abou Diaby and Lukas Podolsk are leaving. According to sources, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Brandon Ormond-Ottewill are also going. That means that the manager will need to buy some new players before it is too late. At this point, the only player that Wenger has invested in is Petr Cech. The manager paid an epic £10 million to Chelsea for the player.
Liverpool FC have had no such problems when it comes to getting new players for their club. In fact, rumour has it, they have already signed James Milner, Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino. They also paid out for Nathaniel Clyne, Joe Gomez and Adam Bogdan. Despite these impressive transfers, they have let a massive eleven players go. According to sources, they have let both Brad Jones and Sebastian Coates go already.
Manchester United has signed two players so far – Aleksandar Mitrovic and Georginio Wijnaldum. In fact, the club paid £14.5 million for Wijnaldum, who they hope will lead them to victory. When it comes to trophies, the Mancunians need to get some wins in soon or they are likely to disappoint fans.
Stoke City now have Glen Johnson, which could do wonders for the club. Over the years, Stoke has come close to winning many titles, yet misses out on a regular basis. The team has also bought Joselu, Jakob Haugaard and Moha El Ouriachi. To everyone’s surprise, though, the club has sold Steven Nzonzi to Sevilla. In the end, Nzonzi went for the fee of just £7 million.
Spurs have already bought Toby Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid. The club paid an undisclosed amount for the player, who has proved to be something of a star. They have also bought Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier. Much like Arsenal, Spurs will need to buy a load more players before the deadline hits. In reality, it seems as though they have let a majority of their players go before buying any. If they want a shot at some of the highest trophies, they will need to get new players.
With just over a month left, everything can still change. There are many clubs out there that need new players. Let’s see which teams spend and which save!
