Beckham to help Spurs win some Football Trophies this season
The David Beckham Roadshow is back in town, and if you believe the rumours flying about, this years’ hosting rights have been passed to Tottenham Hotspur. In 2008 he left LA Galaxy in their off season to head over to Italy and play for Milan for 3 months (which later turned in to 6 months) before returning with a ruptured Achilles – putting him out for the large part of the MLS football season. As LA Galaxy are finding out, you can’t buy much of Beckham for $6million a year – and they haven’t won a football trophy since his arrival in 2007.
So, what happens now? Well, earlier today LA galaxy approved a loan move for Beckham until the MLS season starts in mid-March – so that paves the way for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to complete negotiations with LA Galaxy and potentially get Beckham on the field for their FA Cup clash with Charlton on Sunday. If they do land the talents of Beckham until March, it will be interesting to see how he copes with the heady pace of Premiership Football, and even more interesting to see if he can get himself any football medals for his troubles.
Is this a good move? Only time will tell – but one thing for sure is, Spurs are making a heavyweight push to win as many football trophies as they can this season.
